Osteochondromatosis - long head biceps tendon sheath

Presentation

Left shoulder pain.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

The long head of biceps tendon is intact but with numerous ossicles within the tendon sheath. No large tendon sheath effusion.

Numerous ossicles project over the proximal humerus in line with the bicipital groove. Severe glenohumeral osteoarthritis characterized by joint space narrowing and marginal osteophytes.

Case Discussion

This case of synovial osteochondromatosis is secondary to severe glenohumeral osteoarthritis with migration into the long head of biceps occurring as it is in continuation with the glenohumeral joint.
