Presentation

Left thigh pain increases at night and relieves with salicylic acid for 3 years.

Age: 16 years
Gender: Male

There is marked cortical thickening of the postero-lateral aspect of the proximal left femur with a central nidus of 6.0 mm which is isointense to surrounding muscles on T1 and STIR sequences and hyperintense nidus rim (central hypointense) on T2 WIs with moderate amount marrow edema.

Case Discussion

Imaging appearance, patient age, and typical history, all are highly suggestive of osteoid osteoma.
