Osteoid osteoma - femoral neck

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Left hip joint pain for 1 year that gets worse at night.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male

CT shows ovoid lucent area of inner surface of left femoral neck (nidus) with surrounding massive cortical thickening and sclerosis. There is left hip joint effusion that can be reactive.

Case Discussion

Classical CT appearance of femoral neck osteoid osteoma which presents as cortical nidus and massive cortical thickening. Classical clinical presentation is nocturnal bone pain.
