Osteoma of the ethmoid air cell

A benign-appearing fibro-osseous mass lesion axial width up to 20 x 15 mm and height up to 22 mm in the left middle to anterior ethmoid sinus is seen. The anterior margin of the mass is in close contact with the posterior margin of the nasolacrimal duct and lacrimal sac. The mass also partially obliterated the frontal sinus outflow tract.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of pathology-proved osteoma of the left ethmoid sinus. The most common location of the osteoma is in the frontal sinus. The osteoma can progressively enlarge and penetrates the base of the skull. Most of the osteomas are asymptomatic and are incidentally found.
