Osteoporosis on DEXA

Bilateral wrist fractures.

Patient Data

Age: 53 years
Gender: Female

PA Spine

  • BMD for L2-L4 is 0.89 g/cm2
  • T-score: -2.5 Age Matched
  • Z-score: -1.7

Left Proximal femur

  • BMD for the total hip site is 0.70 g/cm2
  • T-score: -2.6
  • Age Matched Z-score: -1.6 

Case Discussion

With the T-score of - 2.6 in the proximal left femoral neck, this patient is considered osteoporotic according to World Health Organisation criteria. Z- score of - 1.7 is low for someone of this age and gender. Fracture risk is high.
