Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture

Case contributed by Dr Usman Bashir

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Moderate T12 crush fracture (note the reduction in height of the posterior column as well) with height loss of 25-40%. This is chronic in nature given the absence of acute signs, i.e., cortical disruption and trabecular impaction. The background osteopenia and patient's age make the diagnosis obvious.
