Presentation

8 years-old boy with pain and large area of swelling around the knee. 5 months of history.

Left femur X-ray

There is bone tumour characterised by aggressive periosteal reaction and soft tissue component involving the distal femur.

Case Discussion

Osteogenic sarcoma is the sixth leading cancer in children under age 15 and it corresponds to approximately 20% of all bone cancers. Complete radical surgical en bloc resection is the treatment of choice in osteosarcoma.

This case was discussed in a multidisciplinary meeting where the final diagnosis was announced.
