Presentation

Chronic pelvic pain.

Patient Data

Gender: Female
x-ray

Lucency in the pelvis with a calcific density (more or less tooth-shaped) at the periphery (arrow). This is classical of a dermoid cyst with tooth. 

Case Discussion

Possible complications of dermoids include include:

  • rupture
  • ovarian torsion
  • malignant change (rarely)
