Patient Data

Gender: Female
ct

A lobulated well-encapsulated lesion is seen in the pelvis, in the midline, however appearing to arise from left adnexal (ovarian) region. Thin isodense area is seen in the periphery of the lesion, likely to represent ovarian stroma. Lesion is predominantly of fat-attenuation, with soft tissue attenuation solid areas within. No obvious calcification or post-contrast enhancement is seen.

Case Discussion

Being the most common fat containing mass arising from ovary, ovarian dermoid was considered as a primary diagnosis.

Differential diagnosis:

  1. ovarian lipoma
  2. ovarian lipoleiomyoma 1
  3. colonic lipoma (case reference)

Final diagnosis: Ovarian dermoid
