Presentation
Presented to the emergency room with abdominal pain, radiating to the groin.
Patient Data
Plain film KUB does not demonstrate a convincing ureteric calculus. In the pelvis a large calcified focus is present along with a couple of phleboliths.
Slightly to the right of the midline, between the uterus and rectum is a rounded mass predominantly of fat density of the right and fluid density of the left with a large calcified focus in the center.
A small ureteric calculus was seen in the upper ureter (not shown).
Ultrasound confirms the presence of a mass which has an echogenic attenuating component consistent with fat.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates typical multi-modality appearances of a mature ovarian dermoid cyst / teratoma containing in this case a tooth.
