Presentation

Presented to the emergency room with abdominal pain, radiating to the groin.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Plain film KUB

x-ray

Plain film KUB does not demonstrate a convincing ureteric calculus. In the pelvis a large calcified focus is present along with a couple of phleboliths.

Slightly to the right of the midline, between the uterus and rectum is a rounded mass predominantly of fat density of the right and fluid density of the left with a large calcified focus in the center. 

A small ureteric calculus was seen in the upper ureter (not shown).

Ultrasound confirms the presence of a mass which has an echogenic attenuating component consistent with fat. 

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates typical multi-modality appearances of a mature ovarian dermoid cyst / teratoma containing in this case a tooth.
