Ovarian dermoid cyst

Diagnosis probable


Intermittent pelvic pain with a complex pelvic mass on ultrasound. MRI for characterization.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
  • a well-circumscribed lobulated mass arising from the left ovary measuring 85 x 75 x 60 mm of complex signal intensity. The main component is of fatty signal with Rokitansky nodule, attenuated on T1 fat sat sequences
  • small intramural leiomyoma (17 mm) is noted (Figo 4)
  • another small well-defined left ovarian mass measuring 27 x 22 x 20 mm, isointense to the myometrium on both T1 and T2 probably ovarian fibroma
  • small hydrosalpinx well-visualized on coronal T2 sequence

No signs of torsion were seen on Doppler ultrasound (not shown).
