Presentation
Pelvic pain. The ultrasound exam (not shown) revealed a pelvic mass of complex echotexture.
Patient Data
Large well-defined suprauterine mass of complex signal intensity arising from the left ovary. The main component is cystic of low signal on T1, and high signal on T2 with thin internal bands. The fatty component is seen as internal nodules "Rokitansky nodules" with attenuation of the fatty component within on fat sat sequences.
Normal appearance of the uterus and right ovary.
Case Discussion
MRI features of right ovarian mass of complex signal intensity most consistent with a dermoid cyst (or mature cystic teratoma).
