Ovarian dermoid - torsion

Presentation

Admitted with sudden onset severe suprapubic pain and tender lower abdomen on palpation.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ct

Bilateral ovarian lesions containing fat, calcification and solid soft tissue density elements - typical findings for ovarian dermoids. The larger left sided lesion contains intralesional fluid and there is free fluid in the pelvis. In the context of acute pelvic pain, left ovarian torsion is the most likely diagnosis.

Left ovarian torsion was confirmed at laparoscopic surgery.
