Ovarian endometrioma

Presentation

Pelvic pain. US shows mass in left ovary. MRI to better define the nature of this mass.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Large mass in the left adnexum showing T1 hyperintensity (confirmed to not be fat on fat suppression) and low signal on T2 indicative of blood product. This is in contrast to the right ovary containing typical water-filled cysts.

Appearances are typical of the "chocolate" (old blood) content of endometrioma
