Ovarian endometrioma - hemorrhagic cyst

Presentation

Right pelvic pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • a well-defined right ovarian cyst (7.5 x 7 x 6.7 cm) of high signal on T1/T1 fat sat, low signal T2 with "shading sign". No peripheral enhancement seen on postcontrast sequences, in keeping with an ovarian endometrioma
  • a small well-defined left ovarian cyst (3.7 x 3.6 x 2.5 cm) of low signal on T1, inhomogeneous high signal on T2 with a sediment of low signal (hemosiderin products) and peripheral enhancement on postcontrast sequences, in keeping with a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst
