Ovarian endometrioma with contralateral dermoid cyst

Presentation

Pelvic pain in a patient with a history of cesarian section 15 years prior. The ultrasound exam (not shown) revealed bilateral ovarian masses.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • well-defined rounded cystic lesion of the right ovary of high signal on T1 with T2 shading sign, not attenuated on fat sat sequences with no enhancement on postcontrast sequences in keeping with an ovarian endometrioma

  • well-defined left ovarian mass of complex signal intensity. The main component is of fatty signal, attenuated on fat-suppressed sequences with no enhancement seen on the postcontrast sequences in keeping with a dermoid cyst
