Had a screening pelvic ultrasound that showed a left ovarian solid lesion.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined rounded homogenous left ovarian solid lesion. It appears isointense on T1 and hypointense on T2 compared to the myometrium with a central hyperintense signal. Its wall has more T2 hypointense signal than its stroma. It shows a hyperintense signal on STIR and mild delayed homogenous enhancement. There is a cleft of fluid signal partially surrounding the lesion, likely representing an ovarian cyst.

Pathology confirmed left ovarian fibroma.
Case Discussion
MRI findings are likely representing a benign left ovarian lesion with a fibrous component (ovarian fibroma). This was followed by excisional biopsy and histopathology which confirmed the diagnosis. It is a benign connective tissue tumour arising from the ovarian stroma, commonly affecting middle age females. On MRI, it has a low T2 signal which is considered a characteristic feature of fibrous origin tumours.
