Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Pelvic pain and palpable mass on physical exam.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

A 165×115×125 mm thick walled septated cystic lesion is present at the pelvis that extends superiorly until the level of the kidneys. The left ovary couldn’t be defined separately from than mentioned mass. The right ovary is observed in close contact with the mass.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent adnexal cystic lesion resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed ovarian mucinous cystadenoma, which is at the benign end of mucin-containing epithelial ovarian tumors spectrum.

Mucinous cystadenomas tend to be larger than serous cystadenomas at present1, and mural calcification is more common than serous tumors2. Bilaterality is rare in mucinous tumors1.
