Ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Abdominal distension and palpable mass on physical examination.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Large complex ovarian cystic lesion (130 x 170 x 200 mm) with solid components, papillary projections, and thick internal septations arising from the pelvis and extends superiorly until the level of umbilicus region.

Marked mass effect on abdominopelvic organs with no local invasion or vascular encasement.

The mass shows post-contrast enhancement and water restriction on DWI images.

The ovaries cannot be defined separately from the mentioned lesion.

No evidence of obvious malignant implant is depicted in the abdominopelvic cavity.

Large abdominopelvic cystic lesion; pathology proved ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma, which is the malignant form of ovarian serous tumor, the most common type of ovarian epithelial tumor. It is the most common type of ovarian malignancy.
