Presentation

Shortness of breath. Known cardiac patient.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
x-ray

Median sternotomy.

Pacemaker with the body of the pacemaker inserted in the upper abdomen.

Cardiomegaly with abnormal left cardiac outline suggestive of corrected congenital heart defect.

Lungs clear.

Case Discussion

On occasion, a cardiac pacemaker may be inserted in the upper abdomen as opposed to the typical locations in the upper chest wall.
