- right renal subcapsular and retroperitoneal hematoma
- significant effacement of the right kidney, reflecting a page kidney
- no contrast extravasation identified on arterial phase to indicate an active arterial bleed
- no definite venous bleed appreciated as the density of the hematoma remains consistent throughout the phases
- right ureteric stent noted
- no right ureteric calculus seen
Case Discussion
The CT scan above demonstrated a right page kidney. There is also an associated right retroperitoneal hematoma.
This patient was admitted under Urology for observation and monitoring. He was put on bed rest for 72 hours and had regular blood tests to monitor his hemoglobin level. His pain was controlled with parenteral analgesia. As patient remained stable during admission, he was discharged home with urology outpatient follow-up and interval CT scans.
