Incidental finding at MRI of lumbar spine for low back pain

Patient Data

Age: 80
Gender: Male
Modality: MRI

Markedly expanded left ilium with a bizarre signal intensity pattern

Modality: X-ray

Anterior radiograph of pelvis confirms suspicion of Paget disease in left ilium and right upper femur i.e. expansion of bone with sclerosis and coarsening of trabecular pattern.

Case Discussion

The case demonstrates how plain radiographs can be of value in case of "bizzare" looking MRI skeletal findings.
