Incidental finding of an MRI study for the lumbosacral region.

Incidental finding on an MRI study of the lumbosacral region: inability to identify either kidney in its normal anatomical location.

Instead, both kidneys are noted to be ectopically located and fused within the right para midline pelvic region, giving the characteristic appearance of a "pancake kidney."

 

Case Discussion

Neither kidney could be identified in its normal anatomical location. 

Instead, both kidneys are noted to be ectopically located and fused within the right paramidline pelvis, giving the characteristic appearance of a pancake kidney.
