Pancreatic cancer on palliative chemotherapy. Increasing abdominal pain.
Patient Data
An obstructing pancreatic head mass measuring 35 x 42 x 55mm with severe pancreatic duct dilatation. No intrahepatic duct dilatation. The pancreatic head encases the superior mesenteric artery and near complete encasement of the portal vein and superior mesenteric vein. Several prominent local nodes within the small bowel mesentery. Nonspecific segment 4b hypodensity is unchanged. No other liver lesions or intrahepatic duct dilatation. The kidneys, spleen, adrenals and gallbladder are normal. Small splenic artery aneurysm is noted. There is moderate colonic fecal loading involving the ascending and transverse colon. No small bowel dilatation. No free gas.
The patient underwent successful alcohol ablation of the celiac plexus for palliative pain management.
