Presentation
Work up for abdominal pain. Palpable abdominal mass on physical exam.
Patient Data
A 67×57 mm well defined hetero enhancing mass is noted at the pancreatic head and uncinate process without frank pancreatic duct dilatation. There is no sign of local invasion, vascular encasement, or detectable metastasis in visualized portions.
Case Discussion
The patient underwent pancreatic mass resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed pancreatic endocrine tumor (non-syndromic).
On CT images, pancreatic endocrine tumors are usually hypervascular and tend to be homogenous and well-circumscribed. Large tumors may appear heterogeneous and contain areas of cystic or necrotic change. They less frequently present with biliary obstruction, which is a classic presentation of pancreatic adenocarcinomas.
