Blunt abdominal trauma

Patient Data

Age: 10 years old
Gender: Male

Evidence of full-thickness tear of the pancreas at the junction between pancreatic head and pancreatic body with surrounding heterogeneous enhancement of the pancreatic head. The uncinate process appears normal.
Mild ascites noted.
No pneumoperitoneum. No contrast extravasation.
The rest of the abdominal solid organs appear normal.

Case Discussion

Features are of pancreatic transection (at the junction of pancreatic head and body) with pancreatic head injury associated with mild hemoperitoneum.
