Presentation

Blunt abdominal trauma due to motor vehicular accident about 10 hours before the presentation. Complaining of severe abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

No free gas under the domes of the diaphragm.

ultrasound

A heterogeneous echopattern area without vascularity (about 54 x 53 x 40 mm) in the pancreatic body region. Normal pancreatic head and tail. The main pancreatic duct could not be localized. Patent splenic vein. Fluid rim in the hepatorenal and splenorenal regions. Normal spleen, liver, gallbladder, and both kidneys.

Case Discussion

A young male presented with a history of blunt abdominal trauma. The ultrasound shows pancreatic hematoma along with fluid in the hepatorenal and splenorenal regions. Later MRCP was done which revealed pancreatic duct injury.
