Para-articular lytic lesion

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Wrist pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

There is a septated lytic expansile lesion of the distal radius which appears to abut the articular surface.  The proximal margin of this lesion is somewhat poorly defined.  There is no evidence of an aggressive periosteal reaction.   In addition, there is a suggestion of a pathologic fracture of the distal radius with a few vague linear lucencies noted.
