Paradoxic right middle turbinate

Case contributed by Dr Fakhry Mahmoud Ebouda

Nasal obstruction and headache.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

The right middle turbinate and concha are seen in opposite reverse direction in comparison to the left middle turbinate, being paradoxic in location. Slight polypoidal mucosal thickening of the right maxillary and left frontal sinuses. Clear areated middle turbinates bilaterally. The nasal septum is mildly deviated to left side.

Case Discussion

Paradoxical middle turbinate is a possible cause of osteomeatal complex compromise, chronic sinusitis as well as nasal obstruction but reported here as an incidental finding.
