Presentation

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ct

Huge simple intraperitoneal cyst measuring 15.5 x 9.8 x 19.3 cm, indenting the left adnexa and the urinary bladder.
Small amount of free pelvic fluid in the pouch of Douglas.

Case Discussion

Presented with right pelvic pain after a period of intense training. Pain on active lifting of right leg, iliopsoas tender. Bone scan (not included) showed increased radiotracer in both shins, right middle thigh and superior and inferior right rami pubis - most probably subclinical stress fractures.

Huge incidental pelvic cyst.

Underwent laparoscopy:
Huge cyst involving the broad ligament and left Fallopian tube. The Fallopian tube is very long. The cyst was drained (1,800 ml of clear fluid), then carefully peeled off the broad ligament and removed in its entirety in an endobag.

Pathology:
Serous cystadenoma.
