Parastomal epiploic appendagitis

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Reduced colostomy output, vomiting and abdominal pain. Focal parastomal tenderness on examination.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Left lower quadrant loop colostomy with subcutaneous rounded fatty focus adjacent to the distal loop and surrounding inflammatory stranding. This is favored to represent epiploic appendagitis with a differential of fat necrosis.

Case Discussion

A probable case of epiploic appendagitis from a parastomal loop of bowel. The patient was discharged on oral NSAIDs.
