Presentation

Diffuse abdominal pain and vomiting. History of previous abdominal surgery (withheld).

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Operative changes related to surgical resection of colonic cancer with a left colostomy.

Left-sided parastomal hernia contains omental fat and multiple dilated small bowel loops in addition to the colostomy, the defect is wide and measures about 7cm; however it is overcrowded with the herniated loops.

Associated moderately to markedly distended multiple small bowel loops measure up to 5cm in diameter with prominent unusual internal gas and arrest passage of the enteric contrast probably related to increased intraluminal pressure

Incidentally noted diffuse hepatic steatosis and bilateral inguinal small fat-containing hernia. hernia/bulge
