Presentation
Progressive testicular swelling for three months.
Patient Data
Large left paratesticular mass compressing the left testicle. It has heterogeneous echotexture with central ill-defined hypoechoic areas that may represent necrosis.
Case Discussion
The anatomopathological examination revealed rhabdomyosarcoma of the epididymis.
Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare aggressive tumor manifesting in children and very young adults. Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common malignant tumor of the lower genitourinary tract in children in the first two decades.
The oncologic staging (not shown here) showed localized disease. Because of the highly aggressive nature of this tumor, early diagnosis is important, as patients with disease localized to scrotum have a good prognosis.
