Paratracheal lymphadenopathy

Lymphoma patient on chemotherapy. Fever.

Patient Data

Age: 45
Gender: Male
X-ray

Right internal jugular line.

Widening of the right paratracheal space in keeping with soft tissue in the middle mediastinum.

Lungs clear.

Case Discussion

Assessment of the mediastinal contours includes review of the paratracheal space, in particular the paratracheal strip.

Lymphadenopathy if the commonest case for widening of the right paratracheal space, albeit the underlying cause may be variable, including lymphoma, metastatic nodes, TB and sarcoidosis.
