Presentation

Progressive painful swelling of the left parotid region.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Relatively enlarged left parotid gland with heterogeneous texture in virtue to multiple intraductal stones with subsequent dilated parotid duct.

x-ray

Multiple small radioopaque calculi at the anatomical region of the left parotid gland.

Small radio-opaque one is noted at the anatomical region of the right parotid gland too.

Case Discussion

Sialolithiasis is most commonly found in the submandibular salivary glands.

Between 10 and 20% of salivary gland stones occur within the parotid gland.
