Right parotid and submandibular glands appear atrophied with minimal remnant, associated with loss of overlying subcutaneous fat.

Hypoplasia of the right side of the mandible.

The right temporomandibular joint shows subchondral sclerosis and cystic changes.

Hypoplasia of the masseter muscle.

Focal cortical thinning of the right parietal bone in the right parasagittal area, and associated with subcutaneous fat loss.

Case Discussion

The radiological findings of right hemiatrophy of subcutaneous fat, salivary muscle, facial bones, and thinning of parietal bone and subcutaneous area (linear scleroderma) suggest Parry-Romberg syndrome.

It is a Phakomatosis, characterized by a reduced size of the skin and underlying tissues, leading to shrinkage of muscles, cartilage, bone, and salivary glands with time. In addition, 15-20% experience neurogenic symptoms.
