Presentation
Right shoulder pain for six months. No history of trauma.
Patient Data
T2 fat sat and PD fat sat images demonstrate diffuse hyperintensity with atrophic changes in the right supraspinatus, infraspinatus and deltoid muscles. There is diffuse fatty infiltration in the aforementioned muscle evident on T1WI.
No rotator cuff abnormality is seen. No bone marrow abnormal signal.
Normal appearance of the glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints is appreciated.
Case Discussion
Diffuse T2/PD fat sat high signal involving the supraspinatus, infraspinatus and deltoid muscles with evidence of diffuse muscle atrophy, well appreciated in T1WI, suggesting a muscular denervation disorder. These findings are compatible with idiopathic brachial neuritis (Parsonage-Turner syndrome).
