Presentation

Pain anterolateral aspect of ankle following a twisting injury

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Partial tear of anterior talofibular ligament is seen in mid segment and fibular attachment. No obvious bone marrow is seen in present scan.

Mild sprain of posterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments is also seen.

Plantar flexion helps to delineate the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular better.

Case Discussion

Partial tear of anterior talofibular ligament which is the likely cause of patient's pain. Absence of any bone marrow edema suggests that the injury is subacute in nature.
