Presentation

Sudden onset hip pain with a snapping sound while performing deadlifts.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years

Partial tear of semimembranosus tendon involving its origin at ischial tuberosity and extending distally for approximately 30-35 mm. More than 50% of the thickness of the tendon appears to be involved. Surrounding fluid and soft tissue edema is seen also extending up to the sciatic nerve.

The biceps femoris tendon and ischiocondylar portion of the adductor magnus tendon appear intact.

Mild strain of semimembranosus and semitendinosus muscles is also seen.
