Left-hand middle finger pain after playing volleyball.
Patient Data
Abnormal intrasubstance increased signal and fiber discontinuity is present along the course of the third extensor digitorum tendon central fibers at the mid-diaphyseal level of middle finger proximal phalanx. There are also associated edematous changes of the soft tissue around the tendon.
Case Discussion
The patient referred to us with the history of left-hand middle finger pain and immobility after playing volleyball from 6 hours ago. After the initial assessment, hand MRI was done and revealed an acute partial thickness tear of the third extensor digitorum tendon.
