Patella alta - high riding patella

Presentation

Persistent anterior knee pain since long time.

Patient Data

Age: 22 years.
Gender: Male

The patella is seen higher in position (high riding).

Abnormally high position of the patella that is denoting high riding patella.

Abnormal patellar tendon L / greatest diagonal L of patella = 1.65 = suggesting patella alta. (ratio must not exceed 1.2). Evidence of retro and infrapatellar soft tissue edema pattern is seen.

Moderate amount of synovial joint effusion.
