Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Comminuted fracture of the patella with extensive marrow edema of the patella, tibia and femur and thickened patellar tendon with abnormal bright signal inside.

Case Discussion

Diagnosis: Comminuted fracture of the patella. Patellar fractures usually occur in dashboard injuries with the distraction of patellar poles away from each other. The quadriceps tendon is almost always injured and needs evaluation with MR examination.
