Left knee trauma. Unable to weight bear.

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

  • marked joint effusion

  • undisplaced, longitudinal fracture line through the patella extending to the mid to medial articular facet, with a minimal step, and without the articular gap

  • no tibial or femoral fracture

Case Discussion

Patellar fracture is one of the common knee injuries usually post direct trauma to the patella or sudden forceful contraction of the quadriceps muscles in the context of a sports injury.
