Patellar tendon rupture

Presentation

Sport injury 3 weeks ago.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
mri

There is a complete interruption of the patellar tendon at its mid-portion with 3.5 cm between the proximal and distal ends. No significant retraction of the patella, the Insall-Salvati ratio was at 1.34 (within normal limits). Mild joint effusion with edematous infiltration of the soft tissues and Hoffa's fat pad.

The medial patellar retinaculum is thickened with abnormal intrinsic high signal and adjacent periligamentous edema with incomplete disruption.

There is a medial meniscal tear (posterior horn) grade 2a, according to the MRI grading system for meniscal signal intensity.

ACL, and PCL, as well as the collateral ligaments, are intact.
