Patellar tendon tear

There is acute complete rupture of the patellar tendon at its superior attachment site with the inferior pole of the patella and superior migration of patella.
Quadriceps tendon appears intact.
Rest of the portions of patella appear intact.
Mild to moderate joint effusion is noted.
Diffuse soft tissue edema surrounding the knee joint is noted.
Case Discussion
This is a classical case of patellar tendon rupture.
Early surgical repair may be necessary to ensure good functional outcome.
