Patent ductus arteriosus

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Patient presented with shortness of breath. Machine-like murmur was demonstrated on chest auscultation.

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is cardiomegaly with left ventricular enlargement.

The main pulmonary artery and central branches are dilated. Pruning of the peripheral vessels is demonstrated.

The aortic knob is also dilated.

Calcifications are seen at the region of the aortopulmonary window.

This case shows the radiographic findings of patent ductus arteriosus with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension in an adult patient.
