Pectoralis minor abscess

Presentation

Right upper anterior chest wall swelling and pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Irregular lobulated hypoechoic area is noted in pectoralis minor muscle.

Floating echoes is noted.

Involvement of 2nd and 3rd intercostal space muscles is noted.

 Approximate Size 

- Craniocaudal - 7 cm

- Transverse - 6 cm

- Anteroposterior - 2 cm

 

It abutts 2nd and 3rib cortex. NO rib erosion / periosteal reaction is noted.

 

No extension is noted in anterior pleural space 

No extension i s noted in gleno-humeral joint.

No thrombosis of axillary vessles is noted.

Dopplar     - Vascularity is noted in septa and wall.
