Pectus excavatum

Case contributed by Bruno Di Muzio
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Cough. No fever.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Chest radiographs

x-ray

There is blurring of right heart border and slightly increased density of the inferomedial lung zones on the right. Lateral projection reveals pectus excavatum.

Case Discussion

Just looking at the frontal projection, the differentials would include right middle lobe consolidation/atelectasis, although the lateral projection helps in spotting moderate pectus excavatum presented by this patient.
