Case Discussion

Radiographic appearance of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) interbody fusion cage. The titanium cage and PEEK cage are the two most common cages used. It is commonly used in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to maintain cervical stability. It can effectively restore cervical lordosis, reduce the complications related to graft harvest and screw-plate fixation.

PEEK is a radiolucent material on X-ray, CT and MRI scans. So it doesn't interfere with medical imaging reading. It has two spikes and marked made of titanium alloy.

Spinal cage fusion can be used in other clinical settings other than disc disease, for example, spinal stenosis, degenerative scoliosis, degenerative spondylolisthesis, and spine fractures.
