Anterior-posterior view of the knee shows linear ossification/calcification at the site of proximal medial collateral ligament (MCL) origin. Lateral view demonstrates joint effusion in the suprapatella recess.
Case Discussion
Pellegrini-Stieda lesion is thought to be the result of stripping of the femoral periosteum near the origin of the MCL, which leads to heterotopic ossification and dystrophic calcification.
